Elliott,
   Assuming the controls for the toroidal magnet are going 
to done on a PLC, and the Indiana University developers are 
ambivalent about which type to use, I recommend that they 
use those produced by Automation Direct.  The company can be 
found on the web at www.automationdirect.com.  The accelerator 
software controls group is already developing an EPICS interface 
into that family of PLC, so no device support work would be 
required to integrate any from that PLC family.  If you have 
any questions, please let me know.
