CDR review schedule

Alex and Hall D collaboration,

On Tuesday Larry Cardman met with the hall leaders and contacts for the 12
GeV upgrade project. He outlined his view of the review process for
producing the CDR. Here are my notes:

Schedule:

Sep 1 - DRAFT1 pCDR
-------------------

- Technical Advisory Committee (includes hall leaders, heads of technical
support groups, and accelerator representatives) reviews DRAFT1 pCDR and
comments on overlap/orthogonality/capability of proposed physics between
various halls. Feedback given to pCDR authors.

- Process begins for merging draft documents from accelerator and all four
  halls.

Nov 1 - DRAFT2 pCDR
-------------------

- After some editing and consolidation, this draft is given to PAC
  members for review.

Week of Jan 13 (Beginning Tue or Wed) - PAC 23 Meets
----------------------------------------------------

- Conducts normal business relative to ongoing experimental program.
- Hears presentations specific to physics contained in the Upgrade CDR

Outline of Presentations on the Physics of the Upgrade to the PAC
-----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Intro by Cardman
2. Review of White Paper Approved Major Physics Thrusts (emphasis on
enhanced science motivation and technical capabilities, in so far as
they improve physics, since the White Paper was written).

   a. GlueX
   b. High-x (all halls)
   c. GPDs with emphasis on DVCS (all halls)
   d. Summary of other initiatives (e.g. pion form factor, color
      transparence,.... etc.

Suggestions are requested for names of persons to give each of the
four presentations (a-d) to make the physics case to the PAC

3. Presentations on physics which proponents would like to elevate in
significance (i.e. priority) in the CDR relative to the White Paper.

   - Any group that would like to modify (update) the outline currently in
the White paper should make a presentation to the PAC based on text
   included in the pCDR.

   - These presentations must motivate a research PROGRAM, not just an
   individual experiment.

4. Expt/Hall Meetings

Jan 19-22 / PAC Members review Upgrade Draft2 pCDR
--------------------------------------------------

Charge to "post PAC" will be to give a provide a a) qualitative overview
of physics for the Upgrade and b) give advice on changing the outline of
the current White Paper to produce the CDR.
