gas system

Brian is begining to put together a base design for the gas systems for
Hall D. These would provide gas to the CDC, FDC and Cerenkov counters.

Interface into each of the detector systems need to be defined.
For the CDC the primary contact is Curtis Meyer, but Zebulun Krahn is
working more closely with the prototypes. You can take a look at his
slides from last December at
http://www.jlab.org/Hall-D/meetings/coll_dec2003/talks/StrawTube-Zeb.ppt

For the FDC you can communicate directly with Simon Taylor.

Ravi can provide you with fairly good estimates of the volume for the
Cerenkov counter. Ryan Mitchell(remitche@hep.physics.indiana.edu) has been
doing simulations of the Cerenkov configuration. Some of his latest work
can be found at
http://dustbunny.physics.indiana.edu/~remitche/cerenkov/cerenkov.html

Brief discussion this morning brought up the following issues:
- availability of useful gases (e.g. C4F10)
- recirculation (no for chambers, recovering system for Cerenkov)
- premixing for chambers
- gas runs to to detector (pipe openings into hall)
- gas shed (near cryo-shed?)
- barried storage tanks? heating/cooling unncesary

Contact Suresh Chandra for latest civil drawings to propose necessary
penetrations into Hall D and gas delivery to the detector systems.
