Hi Tim:
I would be very hesitant to have the top layer of the modules support any
weight. I am not so much concerned with the modules that the weight of
the CDC and FDC pushes down on the matrix but on the sides and top when
shear forces are applied (sides) and down force (top). I just don't sleep
well knowing that the last thin sheet of 0.5 mm lead is being pulled down.
Another issue is the non-uniform response of the BCAL to photons and
charged particles in the areas of glued supports compared to the rest of
the area.

Hi George,
Bill Crahen was thinking of a design for the CDC and FDC insertion rails
in which they are glued to the bcal wedges. I am a little leary of this
but would like to know how you feel about bonding to the inside of the
bcal.
