Hi All,

This is a reminder that we will have another Hall-D software
meeting today at the same usual time (1:00pm). You may join by VRVS, by
phone (send me you number) or, e-gads.. in person in Trailer City 173.

Here's the current agenda. It is brief so other items are encouraged.

1.) What should be the "official" format for vector (3 and 4) in-memory
storage and manipulation? Should we use vector3_t package? C++? etc..

2.) Adding complex structures as base types to HDDM.

3.) CODA evio interface to HDDM

Software meeting minutes from July 20, 2004

Attendees: David L., Elliott W., Richard J., Curtis M., Ryan M., Zisis P.

Agenda:

1. Source code management BitKeeper or CVS (EW)
2. Portal Forums: stramlining, organization. (ZP, DL)
3. Portal DocDB: demo (ZP), streamlining of topics, keywords.

1. There was a discussion on the use of bitkeeper. Elliott answered
questions about openlogging and some more on the fundamental
differences between the 2nd generation code managment model (CVS)
and the third (BitKeeper). It was agreed we should start off by
putting the hdds package into bitkeeper since it is currently being
used. Elliott wanted to finish writing up a plan for the directory
structure of the code and how we should split it into repositories.
With his upcoming vacation and work schedule, he expects this won't
be done for 3 more weeks. HDDS will be moved to BitKeeper once that
is done.

2. Zisis lead a discussion on the portal forums. Now that we have
some experience with them, are there any changes we would like to
make (add, remove, combine, or split forums). We agreed on the
following:
  1.)Create a forum for HDDM
2.)Combine the various Monte Carlo related forums into one
3.)Redefine the general software issues forum to include miscs.
topics about Hall-D software as well as external packages.

Zisis agreed to make these changes.

3. Zisis gave an overview of the new DocDB section of the portal.
This is the new, official home of Hall-D notes. The submission form
is quite rich with options for information that can be attached to
submitted documents (including requiring an abstract). It is already
being used for meeting minutes as well. Collaborators are encouraged
to use the DocDB for all documents, not just Hall-D notes.
