SURA University Research VP's,

We are co-sponsoring a grid computing workshop (see below and attached) in
early January that may be of interest to many in your IT and Computer
Science Departments and other scientists who use distributed computing in
their research. Please forward to anyone on your campus that you think may
 be interested in attending.

Thank you,

Matt Thomas

SURA Cyberinfrastructure Workshop: Grid Application Planning & Implementation

Details & online registration: http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwacs/suragridconf/

This event will be held January 5, 6, & 7, 2005 at Georgia State University
in Atlanta, GA. and is proceeding with support from SURA and several
industry leaders, including Sun Microsystems, James River Technical/SGI,
 United Devices, IBM, and AT&T.

With this support, SURA is able to offer registration for this event at $110
per person. Register now and start your new year off right by:

* extending your understanding of various definitions of "grid" and
grid-based applications; * gaining insight into a broad range of
applications that are benefiting from grids; * sharing recommendations and
road maps for successful grid application deployment; * talking with grid
experts about specific project needs and meeting others for collaboration
and peer support in deploying grids today.

Presentations from major grid application initiatives will illuminate the
broader uses of grids, followed by case studies of "grid-enabled"
application deployment in settings that range from institutional to
international. Interactive sessions will provide additional depth on key
topics, and wrap-up presentations on networking, funding, technology trends
and support will leave you better prepared to move ahead with your own grid
 application deployment.

Georgia State University Continuing Education Credits will also be available
to those who attend the full workshop and complete and return the
 appropriate evaluation forms.

For more information, please visit the website listed above or contact Mary
Fran Yafchak, SURA IT Program Coordinator, at maryfran@sura.org or
