DANA revised

Hi All,

In response to our discussions of templates and type safe
programming at the last
two software meetings, I have just committed changes to the DANA
framework. These
changes represent a major (non-backward compatible) shift from the
original system.
The hd_ana and hd_dump programs have been updated to work with the new
system
so you can still look at hd_ana for a simple example of its use.

I have compiled, linked and run hd_dump on Mac OS X and Linux RHEL3 with
the g++
compiler. I have also successfully compiled and linked it on SunOS with
both the
g++ and CC compilers. Running the CC version results in a seg. fault at
the moment though.

If you have checked out anything from CVS from the src directory tree,
I'd recommend
moving it aside and checking out a fresh copy of the code. Please
contact me if you have any questions/problems.

David
