   sadly, we also have to look at the history of what DOE and JLab has done to us
by dragging out this project as long as it has been. The reality is that when we started
with all of this eight years ago, for a finite budget and what we felt that we could do at
CMU, these were perfectly reasonable comparisons. A 1.5cm think Al endplate of the 
area that we talked about for the CDC would be needed to support the 5000kg load. 
The project moved forward with R&D in this regard. Now here we are 8 years later.

   If I look at PANDA, they are going with 150cm long straws for the same 
purpose as us, their so-called straw-tube tracker. Though from the numbers 
posted on their web site, it is difficult to tell what the actual dimensions are, 
other than they claim 150micron position resoultion (r-phi) and 1mm z from 
stereo. They base this design on a WASA design (also straw tubes).
