Re: A note on mass resolutions in GlueX/HallD

Dear Alex,

great report. I would suggest to take it basically as it is and include
it in the "motivation-Report".

I have some remarks / questions.

one cosmetic one, it would ben ice to have on the colored 2-d plots a bar
at the side explaining the color density correlation.

I think it would be good to summarize the GlueX and E852 resolutions for
the calorimeters in a table.

Also because of the discussion of the solenoidal field vs a dipol one I
think it would be very good to have acceptance functions for neutrals and
charged particles comparing E853 and GlueX. This would hopefully show that
with a solinoid we reach the same acceptance coverage as E852 with a dipol
and a factor 2 higher beam energy.

Is it clear why in fig 0.3 the t-distributions at low t look so different,
is it maybe detector smearing.

Table 0.2 is of course at least for me pretty shocking. With the 2007
resolutions the contribution to the phi of the tracking is bigger than
the one from the calorimeters. I think it would be nice to have the plots
p vs theta for the pions and for the gammas, to see this comes from the
fact that this charged pions are in a unfortnate resolution area.
Do you see the same effect for the omega.

There are some small typos I send this with a marked pdf file.

Cheers elke
