Re: Drawings for BCAL assy

Hi Tim:

phew, and I thought you wanted it last week!   :-)

Actually, your time scale for the 1/10 model rules out or local shop and that in Alberta.  Off the top of my head, any project short of a few holes drilled needs a few months from us to get it in the queue and organize communications.  I conclude that you would have to pursue it at a local shop in NN. However, for the full construction we will discuss your questions with the Alberta engineers.

Cheers, Zisis...

Hi Zisis,

The deadline is yesterday ;-) . We plan on getting a 1/10th scale made of it some point in the near future. This would be helpful in proving out the concept. Maybe your shop can make the scale model (is it within the university or an outside shop?)? If not, we can pursue having it made at a local shop. As far as the time frame, I believe a couple of weeks is ok.

Hi Tim:

sorry for not replying sooner.  Thanks for the drawings.  Is there a deadline to your questions?  We are currently swamped with work related to the calorimetry review, plus our university's support staff just got back from a one-month strike, so everything is still in disarray here.

Hi Zisis and George,

Attached are the most recent preliminary drawings showing the wedges and
assy. The datums and tolerances need to be worked on a bit. I believe we
could start with a tolerance of .010 inches for each dimension and
change from there if needed. I will send you another update by the end
of the week. Please have your shop look at these to see if they can
machine them. One of the questions would be  "Do we machine the aluminum
first, then layup scifi/lead, then machine the lead? Note there are 3
different aluminum strong backs depending on position.
