Re: Simple Object Access Protocol (fwd)

Snip, snip. I cut out the forwarding of eveyone elses text to save electrons ;^)

I too looked at SOAP and agree with Vardan. It appears to be a plain text specification of a wire protocol for the encoding of inter-process communication as plain text in an XML complient format. This is very similar to what we did with DP in CODA 2 only much more powerful. It is also very similar to what we envision, in a very loose way so far, as the communication mechanism for control and monitoring in the next generation of CODA..

I agree with Dave H's summary of CORBA and RMI, the same can also be said of Chip's CDEV. Too complex. (Also CORBA and CDEV carry too much C++ baggage).

I want to talk about CODA III plans in a couple of weeks time and hope that you will all be very pleased with the direction we are taking.

Regards to you all as always,
                        Graham
