Dave Doughty
- Showed some results using the Java analysis studio
- Working with new graduate student James Hubbard
- Easy analysis of xml formats
- James will be working on the trigger simulation. Has the program working
  under linux
* Need particle tags in the event format!

Chris Cuevas
- Attended ICALEPS conference on slow controls
- LIGO showed some results. They require very tight analog pid loops.
  Ultimate sensitivity is 1 part in 10**22!
- visited the National Ignition Facility (goal 192 beams), impressive
  $2.4 billion facility
- Invited talks by EPICs control group from accelerator (Karen's group)
- Round table discussion very interesting - many system administration
  difficulties related to multiple platforms
- Additional control systems: NIF uses homebuilt custom electronics
  - ECHELON industry standard makes extensive use of PLCs
  - No labview discussions
  - Outlook direct from National Instruments
  - Jlab and Argonne are the two large EPICs groups
