Report from meeting Wed 20-Feb-2002 9am
		---------------------------------------

Present: Ed J., Fernando B., Dave D., James ?, Elliott W.

F1
--

Ed completed the first routing of the F1 board, but had to add another layer due
to congestion around the clock/timing chips. The board now has 12 layers, about
the maximum possible given geometric constraints in the crate, chip thicknesses,
and impedance requirements. More iterations are needed to fine-tune the route.

Once routing is done Fernando still needs to lay out the power/ground
distribution. This should be relatively straightforward.

With luck the board will be ready to send out in about two weeks.

Chris has received some preliminary quotes on board production costs.

Trigger
-------

Paul Eugenio added low energy pi production (photon energy = 800 Mev) to his
generator, allowing Dave and James to explore the single-pi backgrounds they
expect will often fool the trigger. Their simulation has no start counter cone,
just the barrel.

Much work still needs to be done, but Dave thinks a no-cone triggering strategy
might be to accept events with 3 tracks, 2 tracks plus energy > t1, 1 track plus
energy > t2, and 0 tracks with energy > t3. Here t1, t2, and t3 are different
energy thresholds, values to be determined.

We further need to add the cone to the simulation and perform another trigger
simulation study.

Dave expects to have good results on no-cone triggering by the Mar Hall D
meeting.
