Brief Summary of Electronics Projects for 2004

Brief Summary of Electronics Projects for 2004

We meet this morning and Chris reviewed possible electronic projects for
this year, concentrating on building an FADC board with multiple channels.
His viewgraphs can be seen at

From my own notes:

F1 TDC
------
First article tests released, so production of 50 boards can begin and is
expected to be completed by the end of this month. There are 6 ECOs that
will be implemented on the boards here at JLab before testing. Extensive
block transfer capability still to be tested once large number of boards
are fabricated.

A signal distribution hub is under design and must be completed for use
with experiments that use this system.

Flash ADC
--------

Proposal is to create short term goals (12-18 months) which can be matched
to available manpower. (Aside from Dave Abbott: Tim Smith has been working
with the single-channel board by Paul Smith and is capable of providing
feedback on any questions that might arise.)

It was proposed that Chris send around a draft specification list for the
first go-around of the board. Based on feedback a proposal for
implementation would be made three weeks hence (March 3). The proposal
could be made to a larger group including representatives from other
halls.

Front-end Electronics
---------------------

Not much discussion on this part, except there is interest by Fernando to
start some efforts in that direction. Contacts with Jim Pindolf (Alberta)
and Penn should be made. As the front-end electronics will provide inputs
to the Flash ADC boards, there is a strong connection between the two
projects and cannot be pursued completely independently.
