Noptes on Hall D civil meeting

-------------

7/30/04. Meeting involving accelerator, physics, and admin with A&E DJG
firm. They are working on a 10-year site plan for the lab.

Attending from Hall D were Elton, Elliott, Curtis and George. Many other
persons from accelerator and plant engineering were present.

Main issues for Hall D

Admin will start the diligence process to transfer SURA land to DOE in
FY05 --

In terms of assigning effort to 12-GeV project, there might be
considerable site preparation and even construction of many of the support
buildings, installation of power stations, which could be justified
within the existing 6-GeV program.

old schedule had BOD (beneficial occupancy) of Hall D in Oct 07.

- Need a straw-schedule for defining direction of civil
- Ties into accelerator need to be better defined to be able to build
  schedule.
- date of availability of cryogenic lines to Hall D compared to BOD
(preliminary schedules show 18 months after BOD).

Counting House:

o We need to think about size/uses
  - kitchen?
  - small machine shop?
  - small electronics repair area?
  - bathroom? men/women?
  - square footage
  - one story/two?
  - online farm?
  - conference rooms?

o Hall D building
  - elevator?
  - requirements for temperature and humidity of hall?
  - emergency power?

o Accelerator tunnel
  - how to tie into accelerator?
  - cryogenic transfer lines

proposed philosophy for utilities (LCW/power/cryogenics/etc)
  - all electron beam systems feed by accelerator (underground) systems
  - all photon beam systems feed by above-ground systems (independent of
accelerator operation). i.e. one needs to be able to turn off
Hall D services without interrupting accelerator and vice-versa.

o Current thought is for Hall D to look like an office building from Canon
Blvd due to esthetic/political considerations.

o there will be more meetings of subgroups of this group...
