Today 2pm: Programming Contests - JLab Technical Computing Seminar

Come one, come all!

JLab Technical Computing Seminar

Programming Contests
Wednesday March 14, 2007
CEBAF Center L102/4 2pm

Do you wonder how your programming ability stacks up against the rest of
the world? Do you want to win cash and prizes? In this talk Michael
Haddox-Schatz will present the TopCoder Open and the Google Code Jam,
two annual programming contests he participates in. He will discuss the
format of these contests and give some examples of the types of problems
that have to be solved. He will also tell you what you should do if you
want to enter them yourself.

For TopCoder, registration is currently open, and closes March 27th.
The online contest starts March 29th, and the onsite contest (for those
who qualify) is at the end of June - in Vegas!

Michael is a Software Engineer in the IT Division's Scientific Computing
group, using Java for the lab's Auger and JASMine (batch computing farm
and mass storage) systems. He is an avid JLab softball player. And
