Re: CDC Interconnect Concepts - EDAC

Hi,
Yes this is fine for my schedule as well. Please send dialing info when
you have it.
Yves, also note I certainly don't claim now (nor back then) to have
exhaustively surveyed the possible connectors nor inquired for
availability. For instance, my suggested part number today was simply an
attempt to address the voltage rating issue, it is not necessarily the
optimal choice. It is also true, this whole style of connector,
developed probably in the early 50's, is falling out of favor, so may be
hard to obtain. It will be good if the CDC group can make a thorough
study of the options, including for instance if the 1800VAC connectors
are just not an option, in which case all is not lost but more work may
be needed to certify the safety of the design.
I believe that the connector characteristics we need are:

	- 24 signal pins, 2+ ground pins, as many unused pins as may be.
	- hi-pot withstanding (by our own test) to at least 150% of CDC bias
voltage, including feasible pcb routing
	- approvability by the safety review committee
	- gas tight, noncontaminating (probably means you build up the seal
with epoxy or something)
	- support of pcb board directly by connector would be nice
	- small enough (not a serious constraint given the footprint of 24
straws on the endplate)
	- anything else??

	Thanks,

	Gerard
