    FYI: There is another mechanism available to do something similar to 
this using trajectory points, in case you find it useful. To use it, set 
the TRAJ card in the control.in file to 5 (see the comments in 
control.in). Then you will get a huge hdgeant.hddm file, but it will 
contain the info needed to make DMCTrajectoryPoint objects in DANA (see 
src/libraries/TRACKING/DMCTrajectoryPoint.h). Since this records every 
gustep call for every particle tracked in the event, you can access the 
full shower development info with just as much accuracy, but outside of 
the GEANt program.

    It may not provide any advantage over the method you've already 
implemented, but it's just something to be aware of.
