Re: FCAL test
Dear Colleagues,
I am happy for the great response on figuring out what is needed for
a test of the FCAL. Here some additional information:
1) according to figure 2 in R.T. Jones et. al, NIM A 570(2007)384-398
the the loss in gain was on the order of 2.7% per day of actual beam.
resulting in 35% loss in gain over 300 hours.
2) the photon flux was 5*10^7 with energies between 4.3 and 5.4 GeV
3) Alex contacted Sergey Denisov to try to get hands on some radiation hard
lead glass of the same dimensions. Our hope is to have a bare minimum of
9=3x3 blocks and hopefully 16=8x8 radiation hard blocks of the same
dimensions for the test.
4) as Matt already said we have here at IU a running device to measure
the transmission of the blocks as a function of the wave length.
5) An idea is to put some lead glass blocks close to the beam line in one
of the halls a jlab equipped with dosimeters for irradiation and
measuring
the transmission as function of dose, apply the curing process and
repeat the
exercise several times.
cheers,
Beni
