Preampboard Parts Update
Hi Elke,
Here is a tally of the preamp parts completed by the end of this week
Preamp cards:
FJB 1 (anode, 24-ch) [on hand]
Mitch 2 (anode & cathode, 16-ch) [on hand]
FDC 5 (anode & 4 cathode, 16-ch) [assembled, not yet tested]
CDC 1 (anode, 16-ch) [assembled, not yet tested]
Interposers:
FJB 2 [on hand]
Mitch 1 [on hand]
FDC 5 [assembled, not yet tested]
CDC 1 [assembled, not yet tested]
Cables:
FJB 2 (10 ft & 65 ft)
Mitch 1 (10 ft)
FDC 2 (65 ft)
CDC 1 (10 ft)
All the parts will be distributed this week. Gerard will receive the
parts allocated for the CDC and take them to CMU for tests with the CDC.
As for ASICs,
ASICs:
In use: 19
Damaged: 2
Spares: 11
In an earlier email I mentioned incorrectly that the limited
availability of the preamp cards was due to the number of ASICs
available. I can have an additional 5 cards (16-ch) fabricated &
assembled (plus the required interposer PCBs) for an additional $2,500 +
labor within 4 weeks. In my opinion that's not necessary. But that's
your call.
Also, note that the FDC tests will be completed in early 2008 and
those parts will then be available for any additional tests with the
fADC, etc. The bottom line is that all relevant tests pertaining to the
new version of the ASIC must be completed by the end of February. That
leaves March for Mitch to update the design before submission to MOSIS
in April. The new ASIC will be available in July (?).
I urge all the various interested parties to schedule accordingly
and place their requests in a timely manner because resources are very
limited.
Regards,
Fernando
