Re: CDC Layout

Hi Curtis,

I don't know where those numbers come from as I find no accounting for
those. Most likely, Elke added spares and perhaps accounted for future
price increases to provide some cushioning.

The numbers I have on GlueX-doc-747 are 3,098 straws which correspond to
130 preamp cards. The production cost of the ASIC is estimated to be
$169,500 and the CDC uses about 20% of the ASICs - $33.9k. The price per
preamp card is estimated to be $114 - $14.8k for 130. So, the total for
the CDC production is ~$49k.

On Elke's schedule bar chart, line item 15212080 has $67,084 for the CDC
preamp procurement but no quantity is shown and I don't know if this
includes anything else. Given the number of preamp cards required, I
would say we are safe but Elke may want to comment on this.

I plan to capture all the costs related to the electronics (ASICs, PCBs,
cables, fADCs, etc) for both the CDC and the FDC in one single
spreadsheet which is easier to update and keep track of. Cost estimates
for increased channel numbers will then be easy to get. Please provide
me with updates on the channel numbers once available from the current
studies.

Thanks,
Fernando
